Day2, A Bumpy Ride
Hello & welcome to Randy & Maryann’s RV Summer trip. Today’s title A Bumpy Ride. If anyone has driven the I-5 through the Central Valley to well past Sacramento might understand what I mean. It is a pothole bumpy drive, and driving in a stiff suspension motorhome even makes it worse. The day started with a nice cool morning, having our morning coffee and sharing a Cinnabon cinnamon roll, tasty. With everything stowed away we are ready to go. 1st stop, gas to fill up the motorhome and by 8:30 am we are on our way. Traffic was really a non factor today and I was even able to pull out and pass a few big rigs, which rarely happens. I normally keep my towing speed between 60-65 mph. Not much to see, but farmer’s fields as far as the eye can see, also saw a couple Hawks perched on power line poles. After navigating most of all the potholes, it was time for our 2nd stop of the day, Loves Travel Center, about an hr from Sacramento. A quick stretch of the legs and snack it was back on the old bumpy road. It got so rough that it knocked my phone out of it cradle!!. Got right through Sacramento without any traffic problems, that’s a first and finally the roads starting to mellow out. Arriving at Heritage RV Park, Corning CA around 3:15. The office was closed for the day, but they had our listed camp site inclosed in an envelope by the door. Got to our site, hooked up to shore power to get the air-cons going to cool down the rig, then it was a quick job to get things leveled, slides out and car unhooked.
We walked over to the Olive Pit. A store/restaurant that has just about every type of olive’s, olive oils & balsamic vinegars you could imagine, and much more. We both had a good Angus beef cheese burger w/ banana milkshake for me & Maryann went with the Espresso Balsamic shake.
