Day3, We Enter Oregon

Daily events of Randy & Maryann’s summer roadtrip.

Our day started like most days, up early, had our morning coffee, only 1 cup on travel days and shared another cinnamon roll. Since we are only staying 1 night at the beginning of our trip, breakdown of the motorhome only takes a few minutes. Disconnect water, power, pull in the slides and bring up the leveling jacks takes about 15 min. Only thing that is left is to re-hook up our tow vehicle.

By 8:00 am we are on our way, 1st stop, again it’s gas for the motorhome. Today’s route keeps us going North on I-5. Passing through Redding, Lake Shasta, Dunsmuir, Weed and finally reaching the California/Oregon boarder. Then on to Ashland, Medford, Grants Pass and finally reaching our destination for the day Canyonville OR, Seven Feathers Casino Resort RV Park.

We only stopped once for a quick stretch and bathroom break. The drive was fairly easy with a lot of ups and downs going over the multi mountain passes, the highest being Siskiyou Pass, 4310ft, the highest pass on the entire 1-5 hwy.

Going by Lake Shasta, the lake itself looked pretty full, I don’t know what the water level is currently but from what I saw it looked good, and that’s a positive sign for the summer months. Mt. Shasta looked real pretty standing tall against the sky with the snow cascading down the sides of the mountain. There have been a lot of lighting strike fires in the region so it made for the sky’s to have a hazy look which obscured some of the beauty of the landscape.

We saw our first logging truck, hauling logs, which is always exciting, something you just do see in So Cal.

We reached Canyonville around 1:15. We had to go into the casino and get a players card that gave us a discount at the RV Park and the casino (restaurants), we don’t really gamble. We went to the RV Park, it’s very nice, got set up and went back to the casino for a bite to eat and then ran to a local market to pick up a few items. The restaurant we went to was called Stix, sports bar type place. I had a steak/apple salad, w/ a beer which was very good and Maryann went with the Southwest style salad, and she got the Margarita sampler, which consisted of 3 different sample size Margaritas.

We got back to the motorhome, relaxed a bit then took a nice leisurely walk around the park. It is a very nice RV Park & well maintained to say the least. All the sites are concrete pads with grass on both sides of your site and nice full grown trees proved some nice shade.

Stats- Miles- 269, Gas- $175, $3.84 gal, took 45.5 gal, Temp- 96 on arrival, Route-1-5. Site #22, concrete pad, pull through, W/S/50 amp/Wifi & cable

Park amenities, showers, laundry, In-door pool & spa, & bbq areas.

Currently sitting outside enjoying the nice 75 degree weather, finishing off a new bottle of wine we opened. Life is good.
