Day5, Troutdale OR

Today we made it to Troutdale OR, Sandy River RV Resort, just off Hwy 84, 20 miles East of Portland. We have a wonderful back-in spot, over looking the Sandy River with lots of shade trees.

We stated the day with our coffee and a special treat, Portuguese Nata’s, Custards tarts. They are so delicious, we had them on our recent walk in Portugal. I found these at Trader Joe’s just before we left on our trip. I highly recommend trying them if you ever can find them.

Once again , all packed up’s and our first stop of the day is gas for the motorhome, are you sensing a trend😂. On the road by 9:15, heading up I-5N, passing through Eugene, Corvallis, Salem & finally Portland before reach Troutdale. Drive was fairly smooth, except for stop & go traffic as we got closer to Portland. We actually took the 205 that goes around downtown Portland and connects to the 84. The RV park gives precise direction on how to get here. Google maps has you get off at the closest exit and it puts you in a not so friendly position trying to navigate the traffic. The park has you get off a couple exits before & and that makes it a nice even shot into the park without having to cross three lanes of traffic in a short period of time.

We pulled in and the manager was right out side greeting all the new arrivals and gave us our instructions & the do’s & dont’s regarding the park. Just the basic stuff, park on our pad not on the grass.. duhhhh. They even have an onsite parking spot for your tow vehicle, which is nice. We stayed here last yr so we know what to expect. This was our first back-in site of our trip so far. Which is no big deal, we just have to unhook the Mini then back the motorhome into the site.

We got setup quickly, it starts to be a routine. Put down the leveling jacks, pop out the 2 slides, hook up power & water, sometimes sewer also. 15 min later everything is basically done, door mat, outdoor rug, chairs/ table and awning extended. Ready to relax.

Maryann put together an awesome charcuterie board for lunch, very tasty. After lunch I went out to clean the front windshield, to get all the bug smears off. Having a nearly flat front windshield seems to attract all kinds of bugs, splat splat splat!!!

Couple of things on the motorhome, 1st my generator won’t fire up, thinking it needs a new fuel filter, which looks real simple to fix. 2nd thing, when we arrived today I heard a clicking noise coming from what sounded like the engine compartment, now it wasn’t doing that this morning. Now that could be nothing or it could be a real big deal, so I am going to call a RV Mobil place to have someone come out and take a look at it, fingers crossed it’s nothing!!!. We are here for the next 7 days so hopefully I can get someone out here soon.

We have lots of activities planned for the next few days, things to see and do, people to visit and so on.

Today’s silly stats, Miles- 220, Hrs-4ish, no stop breaks. Temp- Day started off cloudy, but time we got here mostly sunny, low 80’s. Gas- $155, $3.59 gal, 43 gallons. Site- #121, asphalt pad, level, back-in, W/S/50amp/Wifi/Cable, nice shade trees.

Amenities- laundry, showers, walking path down to the river, and a short walking distance into town, shopping, restaurants etc…

Thanks for reading, hope you all are having a nice day.
