Still Waiting

Here we’re, July 26th, as I write this, and we are still waiting for the motorhome to get fixed. We are currently staying at Maryann’s brother-in-law & sister-in-laws house, very grateful of them to let us stay here while we deal the motorhome.

The motorhome is currently at a local Ford service center. The initial quote we received on the repairs was $19,700 for a new engine block. It was reported on their stethoscope listing diagnosis that they heard noise coming from cylinder’s #4&5. Hence the diagnosis of a new engine block, without any further investigating of what’s going on. We told them no on the engine replace ment but wanted them to pop off the valve covers and actually look and see what the problem might be and then fix it if there is an issue. It could be as simple as a valve spring or push rod that needs replaced, but not an entire new engine block!!!! They also found the rear end sway bar was bent, so they are fixing that also.

So now it’s looking like next week before they can get the valve covers off and inspect. Then if parts need to be ordered, then that’s another week most likely then they would have to put it all back together. So we are looking at a possible couple more weeks before we can leave😤

Maryann has had to cancel all of our upcoming rv reservations, even the two week stay in Michigan. We are supposed to be in Michigan in just a little over two weeks and there is no way we are going to be able to make that now. So it looks like our exciting cross county motorhome trip won’t be happening 😢

Now we are like what do we do now. We talked about just drive our tow car home and then I can come back up here when the motorhome is fixed or at least fixable enough to get it back home. We even talked about driving out to the Oregon coast and spend a few days there. Actually at this point in time we really don’t have a clue what we are going to do. We are grateful to have a place to stay but I don’t want to burden them with us staying, possible two more weeks,  decisions, decisions, decisions.

We actually have not done a whole lot while we have been here. Kind of sitting around waiting for a call about the motorhome, just doing short little trips here and there. Yesterday we did go to the Portland Japanese & Rose gardens, that was nice. Then we stopped at downtown Portland old restaurant/bar, that we saw on the local news the day before. It’s called Higgins, apparently it’s been around for yr’s. Well they are suffering, like many restaurants, decreased patrons and on the verge of closing their doors. So we popped in, the place was packed, and our waiter said the news story has greatly increased people stopping by to grab a drink at the bar or stay and eat, good for them, hope it will last.

At least we still are smiling. Maybe the rv gods are trying to tell us, trade this motorhome in and get a diesel pusher motorhome🤔🤔.
